It has been weeks of demonstrations by the NASU OAU chapter. Many funny and scary things I must say. I arrived at OAU yesterday the 22nd of June expecting to resume on the 27th the same month but things has changed drastically. Resumption on that 27th is not even sure again.
The newly admitted fresher’s resumed about a month ago, they're registration stopped just two weeks after their resumption and ever since then these people have been idle. In my personal opinion I think having adolescents gathered and leaving them idle can lead to a lot of terrible things. Come on! And now they have all the freedom they've been longing for and we have this school being run by the so-called intellectuals. Anyways the school was shut down yesterday. I heard it myself on Orisun Fm. Well that aside. It was today the 23rd I found out we have two separate Student unions. The "Students" Student Union and the "Managements" Student Union. Isn't that fascinating?
This morning the sound of the "Students" student union alarm woke me. They were passing information at different hostels. Well they said a lot of things but what caught my attention was when someone said and I quote, “why are you listening to what the management is saying over the air’’. These guys haven't even been in the school premises for over a week now so they think they have toys they can fuddle with and use to fight their own battles against the almighty NASU? When they don't even have the students interest in their mind" bla bla bla you know how such speech goes. Bottom line is they told to students to remain at school. During the dissemination of these information another gang stepped in. About 30 of them if not more. Oh they were the "Managements" student union. Well they stepped in and disrupted what was going on. A fight was about to break out but the "Students" student union pulled out. So I heard sha because I had already taken to my heels when the gra gra started.
Now back to NASU. Yesterday was so full of drama. I couldn't get to town
because of their barricades and all. These guys actually meant business that
yesterday. They actually demonstrated till this morning. They even turned the
schools senate building to an adult club house in the evening time. I was
hearing Fuji and Apala music. Really? And these people are like our parents at
school. Well I disown myself from such family. There's no way I want to be
doing all that.
It doesn't end there. There's been power outage at halls of residence and
strategic places on campus. So everybody was out at night just to charge their
devices. I also went out to charge my phone with 2 female friends and we were heading
back at around 3am. All of a sudden I started to hear funny but scary sounds.
As a guy I summoned up courage and told the ladies it's probably the Awo hall
boys doing Aro (playing pranks). Then we saw two guys running. This was strange
because guys don't run from awo boys. The sound drew nearer as a guy I wanted
to show I had the lead and I saw three/four men at about 20metres away. I asked
"can we come through sir" one shouted in Yoruba "ti o ba foju
ko" with a very aggressive tone. Immediately I started to panic. I thought
it was a masquerade someone wasn't supposed to see. Immediately I told the
girls to let's run. Well well well when I got to where I wanted to sleep my
friend narrated the same thing to me and told me they were carrying
"ebo" (sacrifice) he was also around that area and got close enough
to them.Is this not alarming? Why should such a thing happen in a school premises?
Nawa oh. These NASU people tho. In this life of vanity what is that serious
that their fighting about. Is the school their fathers property? I'm not saying
they shouldn't ask for what belongs to them but they are other ways to go
around it. Decent and smart ways!
About 10am this morning I was at SUB then I saw a crowd of people all dressed
in white. This na NASU again. All holding Brooms and whips singing and drumming
Even a Coffin was made with the outgoing Vice Chancellors name written on it
Bold and clear "OMOLE". They were raining curses left and right. I
even know the baba that carried it. I actually felt disappointed.
What sort of behaviour is this. This is an educational surrounding. What do you
want these students to do when they grow up like you guys.
Well It's very sad that many people are actually LITERATES but not EDUCATED
Lol. I'm just saying there's more to being properly educated than just
classroom work!
Anyways I don see coffin but where the Akara at tho?
I heard firewood and frying pans are already at the senate building.
Imagine! Another barbaric behaviour.
I REST MY CASE!
