Daniel Benson is a Nigerian afro-fusion singer and songwriter popularly and formerly known as Bujutoyourears, "Buju" for short.
Benson officially changed his stage name to "BNXN," pronounced "Benson," on February 17, 2022. He announced this on his social media platforms, claiming that it was because he was frequently confused for another Jamaican artist, Buju Banton.
BNXN has
a unique voice and is well known for his hook on Ladipoe's "Feeling." Aside from that, he's done
significant collaborations with prominent artists like Wizkid, which earned him the number one place on the UK Afrobeats
singles chart, and a collaboration with Pheelz
on "Finesse," which is presently one of Nigeria's most popular songs.
He released his Extended
Play (EP) project, "Sorry I'm late," on October 27,2021, and also
embarked on his first tour, performing at the 02 in London. BNXN has been performing fairly well
since 2018, and here are some of his accolades and nominations:
- City
people entertainment awards
- Nominated
for AFRIMMA Awards 2021
- Nominated
for the Next Rated award in the 15th Headies Award.
He had his first sold-out show at the Balmoral Convention Center, Lagos.
Some core fans on Twitter felt the need for a moniker to
distinguish BNXN's fanbase after he
changed his name, and came up with the name "Hedges" from the
renowned "Benson & Hedges." If you ask me, I think it's very
creative.
Other well-known artists with large fan bases include FC, 30bg, Outsiders, and Marlians, to name a few.
Could BNXN win the 2022
Bentley Bentayga for Next Rated Artiste at the 15th Headies Awards in July, and
be on his way to become one of Nigeria's Top Artistes in the near future?
